Watches and Warnings
The news and weather channels will issue a watch, warning or blizzard warning depending on the content of the storm.
A watch is issued when: there is a possibility of a blizzard, heavy snow, heavy freezing rain, or sleet (be alert because a storm is likely)
A warning is issued when: a hazardous winter weather event is imminent or occurring, and is considered a threat to life and property (take action storm is entering area)
A blizzard warning is issued when: a blizzard is definite (snow and strong winds combined will produce blinding snow, near zero visibility, deep drifts and is life threatening)
