How Blizzards Form
For a blizzard to form warm air must rise over cold air. There are a few steps to make this happen.
1. Winds pull warm air from the equator towards the poles and cold air from the poles gets pulled toward the equator.
2. Warm air and cold air are brought together. A front forms and precipitation occurs.
3. Moisture (water vapor) is needed to form precipitation in the clouds.
4. The temperature needs to be below freezing on the ground and in the air for the precipitation to be snow.
